How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works

And how you can get started...

At Saint George Hyperbarics, our goal is simple: help your body heal from the inside out using safe, effective, medical-grade hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, dealing with lingering symptoms after COVID, or just feeling stuck in a cycle of fatigue or pain—this treatment may be the missing piece.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Explained

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a simple yet powerful treatment that delivers medical-grade oxygen at increased pressure.

During treatment, you lie inside a pressurized chamber while breathing oxygen through a mask or cannula.

The higher pressure allows oxygen to dissolve directly into your plasma, not just your red blood cells—so it can reach areas of your body where circulation is poor or healing is slow.

This triggers a cascade of healing effects:

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Improves energy production at the cellular level

  • Stimulates growth of new blood vessels

  • Boosts immune response

  • Mobilizes your body’s own stem cells for tissue repair

These mechanisms support healing in conditions like stroke recovery, autoimmune issues, post-concussion symptoms, chronic pain, and more.

Why Our Chambers and Team Are Different

Steel-Walled, Medical-Grade Chambers

Our steel chambers are built in the U.S., cleared by the FDA to operate up to 3.0 ATA, and meet rigorous safety standards set by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and PVHO-1, the same organizations that evaluate submarines for human occupancy.

That matters—because healing typically happens at 1.5 ATA or higher.

The soft-sided “mild” chambers found in some clinics often only reach 1.3 ATA and don’t deliver 100% oxygen.

They’re not medical-grade, and the results aren’t the same.

Trained and Certified Staff

Our team includes licensed medical providers who are certified as Functional Medicine Hyperbaric Clinicians, along with hyperbaric technicians certified through the International Board of Undersea Medicine.

Every treatment is guided by strict protocols. Our Safety Director oversees our operations.

You’re in expert hands.
